About RCPCH
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) is the membership body for paediatricians in the UK and around the world. Founded in 1996, we play a major role in postgraduate medical education, professional standards, research and policy. The College has over 20,000 members and fellows, both in the UK and internationally, and employs around 170 staff across the UK. We exist to transform child health through knowledge, innovation and expertise, and to create a healthier future for children and young people across the world.
The Role
We at RCPCH are now looking to appoint our new Chief Digital Officer (CDO). This is a new role reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The CDO will be key in developing and delivering a transformational digital strategy to support our paediatricians to provide excellent healthcare to children and young people. Sitting on the Executive Team, the new CDO will also oversee the provision and development of high-quality IT infrastructure and service support as we move to a more hybrid style of working.
The CDO’s digital strategy will sit at the heart of the College’s new three-year strategy. Our mission to educate paediatricians and improve care for children will be achieved by: providing effective digital platforms for online learning and educational activity, improving quality, and providing good membership support. This role will better enable the integration of teams, systems, and processes, including a refresh of the technology estate, paving the way for the delivery of new IT and Digital services, to better meet the needs and expectations of our diverse range of members and staff. The CDO will form strong collaborations with senior paediatricians and partners at a national level in order to build a robust and effective digital base for our work. This includes working with business partners to plan for new areas of activity as medicine changes.
The appointee will be experienced in the strategic and operational management of significant digital functions with a proven track record of leading teams through innovative change and in applying a continuous improvement approach. The CDO will be a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, excellent experience of working and communicating with a dispersed community of members and staff, and a demonstrable track record of effective organisational leadership, project management and good judgement.
RCPCH wants to represent all the communities we serve. Appointment will be made solely on merit. The College is particularly keen to receive applications from black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, and/or candidates with a disability who are currently under-represented at this level of the organisation.
