A recent quality inspection has resulted in Liverpool’s Aintree University Hospital receiving an ISO 9001:2015 recertification stamp of approval, an international standard for quality management systems.
The radiology department has held the award for 24 consecutive years and their performance will be used as a benchmark for other trusts.
Becky Hanlon, Deputy Medical Director for Diagnostic and Support Services, said: “I am really proud of the department for once again receiving this certification for another three years. Despite the pressures caused by COVID-19, the radiology department at Aintree have continued to provide an exemplary service for our patients and it’s wonderful that they have been recognised for that.
“Special thanks go to Jackie Lloyd, Quality Manager, who led on the inspection, and also the quality audit team: Hannah Mason, Emma Finnegan, Jessica Chahal, Glen Thompson and Kate Holland.”
Every area of the radiology department was thoroughly analysed and audited, with in-depth reports, and took customer reviews into account.
The last Care Quality Commission inspection rated the Liverpool Foundation Trust as “Good” overall.
To achieve an ISO 9001:2015, a department must;
a) need to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and
b) aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
